“When I walked in, it was like a gasp!” Harmon, who wore a printed, plunging Marc Jacobs dressed paired with strappy black stilettos, told InStyle. “It’s so him. It’s sexy, it’s dark, it’s got a little Bordeaux to it…he’s classy and he’s chic, but he’s also got that little dark edge to him that makes him who he is.”
That dark edge felt like the exact theme of the night as the designer graciously welcomed his gorgeous guests to celebrate his new Divine Decadence fragrance as he fused the elixir’s sultry aesthetic with his evident passion for all Americana theater, a theme he previously presented at his spring 2016 runway show. The fête began with a luxe cocktail hours, where beauties posed for photos alongside a perfume bottle-lined backdrop, sipped glasses of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs champagne with (for a daring bunch) Belvedere cocktails, and tickled their taste buds at a caviar and oyster bar complete with clam shell ice sculptures, naturally.

As tuxedo-clad piano and double bassist players delivered foot-tapping jazz hits, Ellen Pompeo arrived with her husband, Chris Ivery, wearing a summery, pink Marc Jacobs dress.

The duo chatted with Tracee Ellis Ross (below, second from right), who went festive and fashion-forward in a Marc Jacobs jewel-embellished princess dress, leather jacket, and chunky platform brogues. They later posed but Jacobs muses like Sasha Lane, Ashley Benson, model Adrianne Ho, and stylist Jamie Schneider Mizrahi (below, left to right).

Both Pompeo and Ross raved about the caviar, while Imogen Poots, who sported a black and white checkered dress and glittery purple heels, toasted her oyster with a friend with a “cheers.” Meanwhile, the perfume bottles set scattered across tables enamored Halston Sage. “Look at the bottle. It’s so fun,” Sage said to her sister Kate, as she rested her champagne glass on a gold-cloaked table to pick it up.

“I’ve always loved the Marc Jacobs scents,” Sage, who wore a black and white striped Marc Jacobs dress and strappy black heels told us. “Daisy was actually my first perfume I ever got. My grandma Marcia got it for me for my 13th birthday, and I’ve been wearing it ever since. When I heard they were coming out with a new fragrance, I was really looking forward to celebrating it.”

Tables were topped with gold vases stuffed with the floral notes of the fragrance (think gardenias, hydrangea accords, and honeysuckle) while the potion’s other notes (vanilla, orange blossom, saffron, and amber) were weaved into the menu.
“It’s about having a decadent experience, feeling luxurious, indulging yourself and your senses,” Lima, the face of the fragrance, told us about the vibe of the event, as she showed off the high split in her glitzy Marc Jacobs dress, lifted her glass of champagne, and headed over to taste the caviar.
As dinner began, guests entered the theater and gasped in delight as the red stage curtain raised and a display of scaffolding, which held onto the table settings, began to descend from above. After a bit of applause, guests took their seats on stage at tables topped with a stunning array of white flowers tucked into glass vases.

They dined on asparagus with sauce gribiche and mimosa and black cod served up with forbidden black rice, saffron aioli roasted carrot & house made ricotta tart and shaved black truffle. For dessert, they feasted on Amber pot de creme with saffron crumble and vanilla.

So who best met the evening’s “festive” dress code? Lima was one of the ball’s many belles. “I got to show a little bit of my leg,” she told us of her dress. “It’s very sexy. I feel very glamorous, bringing back the 1920s to the modern days.”
