Concord Scouts Hope To Begin Raising Thousands To Support Pack, Troop

CONCORD, NH — Troop 90 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are hosting a “Support Our Scouts” yard sale to offset the cost of being a scout.

Nearly 30 vendors will sell items, including baby clothes, toys, tools, household goods, and much more at the event. Local businesses, including NH Exteriors, Seams to Fit, Scentsy, and CandleTree Soy Candles, will also be selling wares.

Nazzy Nazz, a DJ and fixture in radio in the city for many decades, who volunteers for the scouts, said this was the first time they organized a yard sale to raise money. The goal is to raise $10,000 in 2024 to allow as many scouts as possible to participate in programs and events without worrying about the costs.

Nazzy said the Boys and Girls Club donated the use of its facility and will hold an open house at the same time to let city residents know about the facility.

“It’s a chance to learn about all the wonderful things the kids at the club have been working on,” he said. “The troop will also have some displays up showing off their project, knots, lashes, and emergency preparation … it’s a chance to kinda see what we do at scouts and what their money is going to.”

Scouts will also be selling baked goods and other food items and, for a small fee, will carry purchases for yard sale attendees to their vehicles. They are also assisting vendors in bringing in their items for the event.

Vendor slots for the event sold out pretty quickly, he said.

Nazzy said one of the vendors, a buyer and seller of collectible toys, is expected to have some impressive items for sale. Crafters will also be there. One woman who has a table completely cleaned out her house to participate in the event.

“Who knows what treasures she is going to come up with,” he said.

About 30 kids are involved in Cub Scout Pack 90 and Boy Scouts Troop 90. The goal of the fundraiser and future ones is to bring down the cost of scouting.

“No matter where they came from,” Nazzy said, “I want everyone to have the same experience.” hoping it turns into an annual event, Everett Arena,

Nazzy said he hoped to turn the fundraising into an annual event and grow it to be big enough to fit into the Everett Arena someday.

“I’m super proud of everybody who has stepped up,” he said, “all of the parents, the scouts, it’s good … we’ve got a good group and we’re very happy.”

A $5 donation is being requested to attend the yard sale. For more information event, click here.
