Grigor Dimitrov says it is great to fly under radar at Australian Open

Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov was in great spirits following his Australian Open third round over Italian Thomas Fabbiano. Dimitrov, seeded at No. 20, handed a straight-set defeat to world No. 102 Fabbiano 7-6 (5) 6-4 6-4 to reach the round-of-16.

It was a great, obviously, day. Im happy. I knew that Im going to play at the time that Im supposed to play. Its so nice to have the roof. Thats the number one thing, Dimitrov said post-match.

Yeah, it was overall a great, great match. Conditions were pretty good to play tennis. I was just trying to lock myself in and just play a good match. I mean, I didnt try to force anything. I just kind of let the games roll by a little bit more.

I was serving well, moving well. All those things were a plus for me. Yeah, on to the next one now. Dimitrov also believes that flying under the radar at Melbourne Park this year is a positive thing for him.

The world No. 21 previously beat Janko Tipsarevic and Pablo Cuevas in four sets. Yeah, I mean, its great. Stealth, Dimitrov said when asked if he likes flying under the radar. Again, it is what it is.

You just got to beat one opponent at a time. Doesnt matter on what stage you are, what round you are. For me, this is a great way obviously to start this tournament. Already have a few wins under my belt. Keep on going the same way.

So, yeah, Im just focusing on whatever I need to do on my end, trying to do the right things. Dimitrov is set to clash next against American rising star Frances Tiafoe, who beat Italian Andreas Seppi to reach the round-of-16.

Dimitrov wont be taking Tiafoe lightly, who stunned 2018 Wimbledon runner-up Kevin Anderson in the second round. Dimitrov leads the head-to-head against Tiafoe 1-0. Great guy. We have always a lot of fun with him in the locker room.

Everybody loves him. I think that already adds up. For sure, hes been playing really well, especially beginning of the year, been having good results. Already a few very good wins out here in Melbourne, Dimitrov said of Tiafoe.

So, yeah, absolutely, hes going to be dangerous to play. Hes going to be excited. Its new ground for him. So, yeah, I dont expect it to be an easy match at all. Also read: Dominic Thiem reveals what went wrong for him against Alexei Popyrin
