VINELAND, NJ — A custodian accused of tainting school cafeteria food through a series of “sex acts” was charged Wednesday with child-pornography offenses, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO).
Giovanni Impellizzari possessed and distributed child pornography around Oct. 22 in Vineland, officials said. Authorities don’t believe he created or manufactured the material.
He was charged with distribution of child pornography (second-degree) and possession of child pornography (third-degree). No further information about those offenses was immediately available.

Impellizzari is a school custodian at the Elizabeth Moore School Upper Deerfield Township. The Vineland resident originally came under investigation after sharing videos on a chat app in which he performed “sex acts with inanimate objects,” the CCPO announced Friday.

Authorities accused Impellizzeri of contaminating food and cafeteria utensils with saliva, urine, feces and bleach. He also wiped his penis, testicles and anus with slices of bread and also spit on bread before putting it back in the container to be served to students later, the CCPO said.
The videotaped offenses occurred “on or about” Oct. 26-30, the CCPO said Wednesday. Previously, authorities weren’t sure when the alleged acts happened.
The Cumberland County Health Department reviewed lab results for Impellizzari’s bodily fluid samples and determined that he “is not likely to pose any health risks” to the school community.
“Additional tests are pending, and it is possible, but unlikely, that recommendations may change within the next week,” the health department said Wednesday, “however we wanted to provide the most updated information to date.”
During the investigation, police found that Impellizzeri performed the following acts on school grounds:
Impellizzeri, 25, has worked as a custodian for Upper Deerfield Township Schools since Sept. 1, 2019.
He was charged last week with official misconduct (second-degree), tampering with food products (two counts, third-degree), aggravated assault (third-degree) and endangering the welfare of children (third-degree). Officials placed him in the Cumberland County jail, pending a detention hearing.
That virtual hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday and will be accessible for online viewing. The state will also move for detention on the child-pornography charges.
The investigation remains open. Anyone with information related to the allegations can contact State Police Det. Alex Angerman at 856-451-0101. Tips can also be submitted online at CCPO.TIPS.
