Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles at Crown Jewel, Dillinger Injured, Stage

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan won the right to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship when he defeated The Miz at Super Show-Down earlier this month. The championship bout was set to take place at Crown Jewel this Friday, however, recent reports have claimed that John Cena and Daniel Bryan decided against wrestling on the show in Saudi Arabia. Cena was pulled from the World Cup tournament earlier this week, and Bryan has now been removed from Crown Jewel as well. Styles defeated Bryan to retain the title on SmackDown last night. After the match, Samoa Joe arrived and laid out Styles. It was later confirmed by SmackDown General Manager Paige that it will now be Joe facing Styles for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel later this week.

SmackDown Superstar Tye Dillinger has been featured on the program more regularly as of late, and he was even set to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship during last night’s edition of SmackDown. Unfortunately for “The Perfect 10,” it was announced by WWE yesterday that Dillinger is dealing with a hand injury which will require surgery. He received the injury during a match against Shelton Benjamin at a WWE live event in Macon, Georgia this past Monday night. R-Truth went on to challenge Nakamura for his title on SmackDown instead. Dillinger is expected to miss some time from the ring, but it is unclear at the moment just how long Tye is expected to be absent from WWE programming.

Crown Jewel will be taking place later in the week as planned. WWE will be bringing the show to Saudi Arabia on Friday, and with matches such as DX vs. The Brothers of Destruction set to take place during the show, it is clear that the company is hoping to make the show a memorable one. With only a few more days left to go until the event takes place, videos have surfaced of the latest construction update on the stage. The entrance stage, ring, and structure placed over the ring appear to be just about ready to be put to use. Fans interested in seeing the progress on the stage setup for Crown Jewel may do so by watching the video posted down below. Crown Jewel airs live on the WWE Network this Friday.
