Smith receives his draw at the World Championships

Minnesota Storm wrestler Pat Smith (77 kg/169.5 lbs) begins his second World Championships against 2019 European silver medalist Roland Schwarz of Germany. Schwarz was 7th in the 2018 World Championships and 5th in the 2018 Military World Championships. Smith’s previous World Championships appearance was in 2015.

If Smith wins his first match he’ll face the winner of Shermet Permanov of Turkmenistan and Paulius Galkinas of Lithuania. Smith’s quarter of the bracket includes #3 seed Tamas Lorinz of Hungary, who won world silver medals the last two years.

Other USA Greco-Roman wrestlers competing on Monday and Tuesday are Adam Coon (130 kg/286 lbs) and Ildar Hafizov (60 kg/132 lbs).
