With 3 Lakh Troops, 1k Jets, 80 Warships, Russia Is All Set To Launch Largest Military Drill In History

Post the fall of USSR in 1991, the US has been considered as the most powerful, but in the last one decade or during Vladimir Putin’s era, Russia has announced itself, both militarily and economically competent. Whether it’s annexation of Crimea by Russian forces in March 2014 or Russia’s relentless support to Bashar-al-Assad in Syria-Putin, it all depict how powerful Russia has become.

To enhance its power, Russia on Tuesday will launch its biggest military drills in history involving 300,000 troops along with the Chinese soldiers. The US-led North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) has already called this exercise as “exercising large-scale conflict”. The Russians are already comparing this exercise with the 1981 war games by the then USSR in which roughly 100,000 to 150,000 Warsaw Pact (a group of eastern block countries led by the USSR to counter NATO). That exercise was called “Zapad-81” (West-81)-the largest military exercise in the Soviet era.
