Before they had their match at Great Balls of Fire, Seth Rollins was involved in a feud with Bray Wyatt where the basis of the program was that Rollins wanted to expose Wyatt as a “false prophet.” To the surprise of some fans in attendance for their match, Wyatt actually won the match fairly and decisively. The two of them had a rematch on Raw the very next night and Wyatt got the win again. Some fans were curious as to why Seth Rollins had lost the feud with Bray Wyatt, and it seems that the answer is because WWE has some plans for the former Wyatt Family leader. It appears that the company is going to be rebuilding Wyatt.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bray Wyatt was actually booked dominantly in his feud with Rollins as a way to make him a viable challenger against Roman Reigns in a future program. It appears that a Fatal 4-Way involving Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, and Brock Lesnar will be taking place at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship. Should Roman Reigns win, he would be around far more likely to defend the title than someone like Brock Lesnar. If the company does go with Roman to win the match, the belief is that they will be moving onto a Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt feud immediately. Wyatt is currently scheduled to face Finn Balor at SummerSlam.
Speaking of the big SummerSlam show next month, it was reported not too long ago that WWE was also planning a Fatal 4-Way at the show for the Raw Women’s Championship. Now Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio show is claiming that those plans have been nixed. The match likely would have involved Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, and Bayley competing for the title. No reported challengers were named by Meltzer, but it is believed that Alexa Bliss will still be champion by the time SummerSlam rolls around. The match that the title will be up for grabs in is now reportedly going to be a straight singles match.
