10 Reasons Why Millennials Will Make Amazing Parents

Millennials are different. They are confused, clumsy and, on some level, still trying to figure things out. But, they are also smart, confident and well-informed. With the Internet majorly taking over our lives, the changes that have come are immense, and have added a dimension to our personalities we didn’t think we had. In a sense, Millennials already have answers to some of life’s biggest questions.

With nailing every role they’re placed in, millennials are quite the force to reckon with. And when it comes to something like parenting, millennials have it down pat.

Here are 10 reasons why ‘we’ will be amazing parents in the future:

1. Because we’re not in a rush to marry early, we learn a lot more 20s.

Marrying early is not an obligation anymore. If you do so, it because you chose to. This opens us up to more experiences from life, and this helps form our opinions which helps us make better decisions later in life.

2. We truly understand the importance of privacy

Also, we didn’t get any. Because our parents were not conditioned that way either. But we fought our way out and made them understand why it is important.

3. We will be more forgiving because we had the space to make mistakes and learn from them

We are exposed to a lot of things at an early age because of the changing times. And life isn’t a smooth ride. We have made mistakes, rather blunders, but also learned from them. So we’ll know when our kids need to be forgiven.

4. We have seen major technological changes so adapting will come easy

If we take to technology so easily now, the future should be a cakewalk.

5. We are not planning our future based on outdated ‘values’

A lot of traditional values have become redundant with time, even faded away. Blame it on modern time if you have to. But letting go of some outdated ‘values’ can’t be so bad, right? And we are definitely not forcing them on our children. It makes life easier and less complicated anyway.

6. We are better informed than any of the generations before

With the Internet boom, the transition has made us all-rounders. And based on the immense information, parenting will come easy and smart.

7. We have more of what they call the ‘entrepreneurial spirit’

Taking the risk to build from the ground up takes courage, dedication and clarity of thought. This is what this generation is all about. The same or even better entrepreneurial values will pass on to our children. Our children will know that taking risks once in a while is okay too.

8. We value education more than anything

Unlike some parents who sometimes forced us to work at an early age, we know how education shapes the personality of an individual. We also value talents other than just being brilliant at studies. Remember when we wanted to play sports but were told to stick to NCERT books? We know the pain and we are not willing to pass that on.
