BRICK, NJ — Two cats died in a house fire in Brick early Wednesday but the homeowner escaped when her smoke alarms alerted her to the fire, Brick Township fire officials said Wednesday evening.
The fire on Northrup Drive was reported about 2 a.m., the Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety said.
Fire Chief Paul Mazzeio reported heavy smoke coming from the home, officials said. Firefighters were met with heavy fire due to what they said was excessive storage within the structure.
