Victoria’s Secret Angel, Adriana Lima Won’t Take Her Clothes Off ‘For An Empty Cause’ Anymore

Adriana Lima, one of the most popular and iconic Victoria’s Secret Angels has been making news for posting a letter on Instagram. “I had received a call for the possibility of filming a sexy video of me to be posted and shared on social media. Even though I have done many of this type, something had changed in me” she wrote and announced that she won’t take her clothes off for an empty cause anymore. 

In her post, Lima expressed her insecurities about her career as a model, and that when a friend approached her to share that she was unhappy with her body, that’s when it struck her how much importance we’re giving to how we look. “Everyday in my life, I wake up thinking, how do I look? Was I going to be accepted in my job? And in that moment I realized that majority of woman probably wake up every morning trying to fit in a stereotype that society imposed. I thought that’s not a way of living and beyond that, that’s not physically and mentally healthy, so I decided to make that change. I will not take off my clothes anymore for an empty cause.”

Social media nazis went crazy about this post and even noticed that she had unfollowed Victoria’s Secret’s Instagram handle. It’s speculated that she may not work for Victoria’s Secret anymore, making the brand’s 2017 show in Shanghai her last one.

Body-positivity is now gaining some momentum. While being healthier should always be a goal, no one should really be made to feel bad about their body. Every person should be able to decide what they want or don’t want to do with their body’without being judged for it. Having said that, we do support Adriana Lima’s beliefs. More power to you, woman!
