We are millennials and we love our machines – whether it’s our laptops, our mobile phones, our TVs, our iPads etc. It’s the 21st century and there’s never a dull moment with these gadgets. Recently a new study suggested that not everyone can fall in love with machines, and when we say ‘fall in love’, we mean the relationship kinda love; the one you share with your boyfriend. Remember the movie Her? That’s exactly the kind of love we are referring to here.

The report shows that over 27% of millennials, people between the age group of 18-34-year-old, feel normal to form a friendship and even relationship with robots in future instead of human beings. The remaining 73% don’t.
The study conducted by Paris based Havas also shows that the males are 3 times more likely to replace humans with a droid than the females. The study also showed that around 20 percent men preferred the virtual world of social media instead of the real one.
The board director at Havas PR, said: “Filters and AR can, on the face of it, help improve people’s perceptions of the world around them, yet our study reveals that nearly half (42 percent) of 18-34 years olds felt unhappy about their own lives after comparing themselves to others on social media”. “That’s compared to only 21 percent of 35-54-year-olds saying the same, suggesting we are not equipping young people with the emotional framework needed to process this virtual reality,” he added.

We get that technology is taking over the world and that we do love the machines in our lives, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we want to spend our lives with them. Remember how horrifying the Black Mirror episode was where a woman replaces his dead husband with a robot… What’s your take? Can you spend your life with a robot partner?
