Rafael Nadal is improving and recreating himself, says Patrick McEnroe

praised performance in his Australian Open quarter-final match win over Frances Tiafoe. Speaking on ESPN, the former doubles world no. 1 said: Experts thought for many years hes gonna burn himself out with his style of play.

But looking at what hes doing, hes improving, hes recreating himself. He talks about bigger serve bigger forehand. He is pretty good on hard court, isnt he? So many wins on this surface in additional to being the greatest clay court player of all time, he is right up there as a hard court player as well.

Brad Gilbert said: He is playing so much more aggressive… definitely the urge of Carlos Moya on this surface to make some points shorter by being aggressively attacking first ball flatter. Hes playing so much faster because of that (shot clock) that put immediate pressure on opponent.

Gilbert also added: His serve is having a lot of movement. This is the best Ive seen him serve. A lot of time he might use the short slider one. Hes serving more aggressively from the start of this tournament to this point than Ive ever seen him serve in any tournament.
