Speaking on RTL on Friday evening, Angers SCO majority shareholder and President Saïd Chabane was asked to discuss the success that his player and attacking midfielder, Azzedine Ounahi, has enjoyed at the 2022 World Cup with Morocco, who made a surprising journey all the way to the semi-finals and became the first African side to make it to the final four of the tournament.
“We have offers for Azzedine Ounahi. Approaches from big clubs and from average clubs. It is coming from everywhere. Italy, Spain, England, France. Our desire is to find a deal in January, but that he stays with us until the end of the season.”
Ounahi was only 18 months ago playing in the French 3rd division for Avranches – you can read about his meteoric rise in colleague Luke Entwistle’s fantastic article by clicking here.
Angers find themselves bottom of the Ligue 1 table, having collected just 8 points in their first 15 matches and, in a season where 4 teams will be relegated to the 2nd division as Ligue 1 becomes an 18-team league, Le SCO need all the talent they have in order to have even a small chance of making up the 4 places and 6 points they need to in order to beat the drop.
