BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Election officials are continuing to count ballots cast in the Cheval Blanc hotel election and so far it’s an extremely close race: “No” votes are currently leading “yes” votes by around 1 percentage point.
Voters cast their ballots in the days leading up to Tuesday’s election, which included two questions. Measure B would change city zoning rules to allow construction of the 115-room Cheval Blanc Hotel in the Golden Triangle, and Measure C would codify a financial agreement between the city and developer.
The pair of questions are a package deal, both must be approved for the project to move forward.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk on Tuesday night released results from some of the ballots cast so far: ones cast at the vote center throughout the 10-day early voting period and on Election Day, as well as mail-in ballots received and processed up until Monday.
That amounts to 5,778 ballots and 26.07 percent of the city’s registered voters.

Here’s the breakdown of that count:
(2,849 votes)
(2,909 votes)
(2,849 votes)
(2,908 votes)
The final count is set to change: County election officials are verifying and tabulating conditional voter registration ballots, provisional ballots, and mall-in ballots returned by Election Day. They’ll release updated numbers on Friday, according to the registrar’s office.
It’s uncertain how many ballots are outstanding. But for comparison, over 7,850 Beverly Hills voters cast ballots in the June 2022 election that included City Council races and a local measure, according to the registrar’s office.
