New Signs Planned For Culver Steps Area To Boost Business Visibility

CULVER CITY, CA — A set of new signs are on their way to downtown’s Town Plaza.

The City Council on Monday unanimously approved two signs highlighting businesses located within the Culver Steps area. The signs are meant to address a visibility problem — many businesses in the area lack street-facing signs, making it difficult for passersby to know about their presence, according to city documents.

The signs will be located at Main Street and Culver Boulevard and the island at Ince and Washington boulevards

Businesses eligible for inclusion on the signs are those located on the ground floor of Town Plaza whose visibility is obscured from view either on Culver Boulevard or Washington Boulevard, according to city documents.

The owner of the Culver Steps development will donate the cost of fabricating and installing the two signs, $95,000. But city officials aim to give equal billing to all eligible businesses, not just those within the Culver Steps development.

The city will be responsible for the cost of maintaining the signs moving forward, but officials expect to offset that with a fee collected by businesses, according to city documents.
