NOTTINGHAM, MD — A new veterans memorial will be built in Perry Hall, and wishing well coins will be donated to the project.
Planners hope to complete the Honeygo Regional Veterans Memorial by 2025. They still need to raise about $33,000 to meet that goal.

The Nottingham shopping center will donate all the change thrown into its wishing well fountain this year to the project. The Avenue announced the news on Independence Day.
The memorial will be located in Gough Park at the southeast corner of Joppa Road and Honeygo Boulevard. It will honor veterans of all the nation’s armed conflicts since World War I.

“It will be a space for reflection, celebration, and remembrance for all of our men and women veterans who have served in the armed forces of the United States,” The Avenue said Thursday on Facebook.
The Gough Park location was selected from over 14 possible locations.
“The design of the Perry Hall Veterans Memorial meets two major design criteria: high visibility to the public and privacy for contemplation and remembrance,” the memorial said on its website. “While the location of the memorial near the monumental Gough Park sign at the busy intersection of Joppa Road and Honeygo Boulevard makes the memorial visible to many area residents on a daily basis, the design layout provides a terminal focal point with only one means of access so the heart of the memorial becomes a destination and culmination of intent for visitors.”
Residents can learn more and donate to the cause at honeygoregionalveteransmemorial.org. Donors of over $250 will be recognized at the memorial, but contributions of any size are welcome.
