The body of a Detroit woman who lived as a secret hoarder had been partially eaten by animals, including her pet pup, according to a horrifying Detroit Free Press report.
Sally Honeycheck, 80, was found weeks after she died, with her decomposing body slumped over a chair. Honeycheck, who lived alone, was a compulsive hoarder and had been living in her own filth at the time of her death.
Honeycheck was only discovered in November 2018 when her cousin, Linda Kajma, busted into the house after her relative had stopped answering the phone. Kajma stumbled into a house of horrors, covered in waste 12 inches deep. Honeycheck’s dog was also found dead amid the filth.
“No one should have to live like this. No one should die like this,” Kajma told the paper, adding that she had had no idea about her cousin’s condition. “If you looked at the outside of the house … you’d never know that this nightmare was in here.”
Hoarding is officially recognized as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association.
