Toni Nadal explains what Rafael should have done different against Djokovic

In an interview the uncle commented on the Australian Open final won by over his nephew on Sunday. Toni believes the 15-time Major winner deserved to win the title.

Rafa did not play well, he made more mistakes than he had to and Djokovic played at a very high level, said Toni. Big credit to Nole, amazing, who affects Rafael. I congratulate Djokovic because he played at an unbelievable level.

Its very difficult to beat him this way. Rafa played well the entire tournament but now he had a great Djokovic ahead. He is the right winner. Novak is great, he played almost perfect today. He was inspired. Sometimes in such situations, Rafa should play slower, more towards the centre of the court.

Before the match, speaking to LEquipe had said: I think were seeing a Nadal at the same level as 2013 when he beat Djokovic in the US Open final [6-2,3-6,6-4,6-1]. I think Rafael has finally accomplished something weve been chasing for a very long time: winning by loosening his left hand.

The problem was that the ball lost enormous pace on the bounce on his serve. And its something hes solved with the new motion. Its come together better. And it gives his opponents a more complicated ball to handle.

Robin Haase was amazed by Djokovic: At the moment he is simply the best on almost all the levels. Its bizarre the way he anticipates. No one can hurt him. He is everywhere and he can constantly put pressure on you.
