Serena Williams can equal my 24 Majors, says Margaret Court

In an interview to the Herald Sun on Sunday, the 24-time Grand Slam winner commented on possibly equalling her Majors in two weeks by winning the Australian Open.

The American already reached two Grand Slam finals in 2018 at Wimbledon and US Open. I think its possible for Serena to equal me, if anybodys gonna do it, its Serena, but I dont think theres a clear-cut favourite, said Court.

I think its a pretty open tournament and I think an outsider can win it. Court also praised Serenas physical and mental longevity, being able to confirm her successes year in and year out. When youre young, you tend not to think about it too much.

I won my first Australian championship when I was 17 and I had no nerves. As I went along it became harder, said Court. In an interview to BBC last year, the Australian legend had said: Its not easy to win Grand Slams, its probably easier today than when we were playing.

We had wooden rackets, we had to travel 10 months of the year, we played every week, we couldnt take the family with us, we couldnt take any masseurs, we didnt know any of that, we played with injuries.
