Madison Keys: There are always nerves before any Grand Slam match

American Madison Keys produced some fantastic tennis to outclass Destanee Aiava in straight sets, dropping just 4 games en route to that win. Speaking about playing her first match of the season, she said, There are always nerves before any Grand Slam match, but especially when you havent played any matches leading up to it.

Definitely a little bit nervous. I felt like I had to just keep may feet moving and try to get all of that out. But after being able to kind of get it quickly, I felt a lot better. With the American not playing a warm up event to the Australian Open, Keys had this to say I mean, there is a little bit of stress, but at the same time, it is what it is.

I couldnt do anything about it. So all I could do was prepare as well as I could and play as many practice sets and all of that that I could in the week leading up to it. Luckily things paid off, and I got the win today.

Speaking about the difference in thought process when playing a Grand Slam event, Keys assessed, I think its just different. Its all of a sudden, for me, Im more nervous and more locked in and all of that.

Thats actually something that Im really working hard on to be able to do that more often and not have to have it be a slam for that switch to kind of happen for me. Andy Murray has chronic injury like me, says Guy Forget
