Vikings Place Six in Top-Five at Jim Koch Open

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Augustana wrestling team finished up its fourth tournament of the season on Saturday at the 48th Annual Jim Koch Open in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The University of Wisconsin Parkside hosted the event.

Six Viking wrestlers placed in the top-five of their respective weight classes on Saturday. Redshirt freshman Jacob Tvinnereim led the Vikings with a second-place finish at 157 pounds. Tvinnereim went 2-1 on the day winning two decisions 7-0 and 7-2, before falling in the championship by a 7-3 decision.

After Tvinnereim, the Vikings had four wrestlers take fourth-place. Redshirt freshman Jack Huffman went 2-2 at 133 pounds and recorded a major decision. Junior Keaten Schorr went 5-1 on the day at 149 pounds and tallied four falls in addition to a sudden victory. Redshirt freshman Kolby Kost went 3-1 at 174 pounds and recorded one fall and one major decision. Freshman Cade Mueller (unattached) went 3-1 at 174 pounds as well while recording one fall on the day.

Redshirt freshman Hunter Burnett took fifth-place at 141 pounds and went 4-2 with two falls and two tech falls.

The Vikings host their first two home duals on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls. They will take on Wisconsin Parkside and No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney.
