WWE RAW is live tonight from Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Here is the latest from WWE to get you ready for the show:
Scheduled for the show tonight, Roman Reigns will accept Jinder Mahal’s challenge and the Team Red competitors in the Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Matches will compete in Fatal 4-Way matches. Plus, Ronda Rousey and RAW Women’s Champ Nia Jax will meet face-to-face.
RAW Opening Segment
The show opens with the ring full of ladders and all of Raw’s Money in the Bank entrants perched on them.
Raw general manager Kurt Angle makes his entrance. He reminds us that Money in the Bank is Sunday and goes down the basic details of the ladder matches.
Enter Constable Baron Corbin, with his head freshly shaved. He reminds us of his current job, making sure Raw runs smoothly at Stephanie McMahon’s behest. Angle says he’d like the Money in the Bank contracts to come to Raw, and Baron says if they don’t, Steph will be very disappointed. Alexa Bliss tells them not to worry, she’ll fight through the pain and grab the contract.
Sasha Banks interrupts and asks what exactly’s hurt, to which Bliss says “My… shoulder?” and Banks tries to catch her in the lie given she limped away last week. Ember Moon chimes in, saying she’s gonna win, and Kurt calls Ronda Rousey’s friend Natalya out, asking if she’s sure she’s ready. Nattie is ready and she wants to cash in for a match against her friend, Ronda Rousey.
The Boss says she’ll be the one cashing in on Ronda, and Kevin Owens talks about how the ladder matches are hard times (daddy) and asks if they’re gonna raise the case for Braun Strowman since he’s so much taller, and Kurt says the briefcase will remain the same height for everyone. KO puts Corbin’s haircut over and asks him to do something about it.
Braun wants to cut the Constable out of it and do something about Owens, which prompts Kev to complain about being threatened and Strowman to say it’s not a threat, it’s a promise. All the men talk over each other about cashing in and Alexa cuts through with a scream, telling them they’re sounding like the Real Housewives of WWE and she already knows her Mixed Match Challenge partner’s gonna win.
Sasha thinks her partner, Finn Balor is gonna win, and Finn reciprocates for her. All eight of them talk over each other until it’s Braun this time yelling his way through, saying on Sunday, somebody’s gonna get These Hands.
Commentary hypes up the women’s four-way and we go to break.
Alexa Bliss vs. Ember Moon vs. Natalya vs. Sasha Banks
Four-way knucklelock seems like the start but Bliss throws hands and clears everyone but Moon out. Shoved off, caught in the crossbody, fallaway slam into a kip-up and Ember’s starting hot! Alexa feigns a leg injury, Sasha comes from behind, Bliss bails and Natalya shoves her into the barricade! Three-way stand off, Nattie and Banks working together, double hip toss. Moon with a dropkick and trading pins with the Boss to no avail!
Glam Slam attempt from Neidhart countered into a victory roll and she clobbers Ember to the floor! Sasha with a kick to the midsection, off the ropes for double knees, only two and Nattie grabs a front chancery. Reversed to a wristlock, reversed back to an armbar and Banks stands up and forces her into the corner. Slingshot atomic drop, kick blocked, double leg takedown but no Sharpshooter!
Upkicks, forearms, Neidhart out, Ember back in, struggling in the corner… Senton Atomico to the floor, Sasha Banks. Ember with a suicide dive crossbody! Bliss back in with a wicked forearm on Moon, steals the pin on Banks… NOPE! And so we go to break.
Back from commercial and Alexa is in control working a stump puller kneebar on Natalya. Right hands on the break, keeping Ember out of it before repeated elbow drops to Nattie’s injured knee and stomps to the hamstring which, of course, is technically part of the leg. Wrenching it over the bottom rope, stump puller kneebar blocked, Natalya rolls out and Banks comes in hot on Bliss!
Big kick, up and over to the apron for a knee and swinging double knees… Nope! Moon in, she ducks a lariat, big springboard crossbody, rolling solebutt into a knee and an enzuigiri and Sasha’s backed into the corner. Jockeying for position, Ember up top, tornado suplex… Alexa breaks it up! Bliss with the Yoshi Tonic… Banks breaks it up with Meteora into a cover of her own for a two count.
Stacking up in the corner, Nattie back in… Tower of Doom, but Alexa hangs on! Natalya’s knee bugging her after the strain, Bliss perches, Twisted Bliss… The knees are up, and we’re off to break!
Back from commercial, Bliss ducks a lariat, hits a backbreaker but Sasha kicks out. Looking for the DDT, reversed, Bank Statement connects! Wrenching back… Natalya breaks it up, but her knee is giving out! Basement dropkick takes both of the out but Nattie can’t capitalize with any haste. She dumps Alexa, picks Banks up by the legs, Sharpshooter applied!
The Boss struggling and Ember breaks it up with a superkick! To the corner, Moon fired up, handspring back elbow, headed up top… ECLIPSE! Bliss tries to pick the bones, she and Ember end up fighting on the floor and she puts Moon into the steps! Back in to steal the pin.. SASHA MAKES THE SAVE! Alexa and Banks, trading shots, Bliss blocks the Bank Statement using the ropes, puts her into the post, but Natalya rolls up on her and locks in the Sharpshooter on Bliss for the victory.
Winner: Natalya By Submission with the Sharpshooter
Backstage with Kevin Owens and Finn Balor
Kevin Owens rolls up on Finn Balor in the locker room and offers him some olives in lieu of an olive branch. Finn takes the bowl from him and tells him to get to it. Owens talks about how chaotic the women’s match was and that they need a plan for their match,. Balor questions what we there is and Kev sells them on it as former Universal Champions who never got the rematch they deserve.
What happens if Braun Strowman wins Money in the Bank and cashes it in? He could be holding the title forever! Finn again asks him to get to the point and Owens pitches him on working with Bobby Roode to take Strowman out to the point where he can’t compete, every man against monster.
Commentary hypes up a face-to-face between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey and we go to break.
Breezango vs. Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler in on Breeze hot to start, taking him to a neutral corner and smashing his face into the turnbuckles. Raking his bootlaces across Tyler’s face, scraping his eyes along the ropes, taunting Fandango. Trading punches, Heartstopper elbow, tag to McIntyre. Tearing the shirt off of Prince Pretty’s body, chopping him to the mat, quick tag back to Dolph.
Jawing at Breeze, telling him he’s not getting anything but the delay gave him time to recover and hit an enzuigiri! Tags made, Fandango ducks a lariat, throws chops, sidesteps, more chops, Drew dumps him to the apron but he comes right back with a forearm and perches up top. Ziggler runs interference, McIntyre crotches Dango and catches Tyler on a dive… HE POWERBOMBS BREEZE ONTO FANDANGO!
Tag to Dolph, telling him to finish it, superkick takes Tyler out. Ziggler and McIntyre then hit the Claymore/Zig-Zag on Dango for the win.
Winners: Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler
Post-match, Dolph gets on the mic and addresses last week’s battle royal. He says that was a fluke and everybody needs to get over it. Drew says Breezango is proof, exhibits A & B. Ziggler says some of us questioned their ability, their alliance, and that’s a bad move. Unlike everybody else in the back, they’re not just hype, and every tag team on Raw should take a good look because the show starts and ends right here and this is your future.
McIntyre assures them everyone’s future lies in their hands, because they’re not just here to take over, but to save the tag team division by taking every other team out.
Roman Reigns Interview
The Big Dog is interviewed backstage about his match against Jinder Mahal tonight. He’s not surprised, Jinder’s an idiot and he doesn’t listen to anything he has to say. The only reason he’s not in Money in the Bank is because of Mahal, and he’ll never have the opportunity to cash in on Brock Lesnar and take what’s his. Everything that happens to Jinder tonight isn’t free, because he’s earned this ass whooping.
Commentary hypes up the match and we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a bumper about Brock Lesnar breaking CM Punk’s modern-era title reign record. Corey Graves really goes to bat defending Brock’s lack of defenses, too.
Jinder Mahal makes his entrance and gets on the mic.
He says he challenged Roman Reigns tonight to prove that he’s not nearly as unstoppable as he thinks he is. Sure he’s a multiple-time champion, he’s main evented WrestleManias, but the winds are changing. He can feel it in his bones and he can see what we cannot. At Money in the Bank he sees Roman suffering, out of breath, unable to keep up, defeat in his eyes.
Khallas after Khallas, he sees his arm raised, Reigns lying defeated and exposed, and as for tonight…
Enter Roman Reigns.
Jinder continues, saying he heard Roman’s promo earlier about costing his opportunity and his failures are starting to cloud his judgment. He’s not going to face him tonight! He never said he was wrestling, his opponent tonight is another great Indian, who stands fearless, shoulders above all competition, none other than the Great… Sunil Singh!
Roman Reigns vs. Sunil Singh
Jinder gives Sunil a quick pep talk and he’s game!
Reigns knocks Mahal off the apron and turns to face Singh. Sunil backs off and throws a punch but gets caught. Off the ropes, Superman Punch! Fired up, the Big Dog howls and drills Singh with a Spear for the victory.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Jinder immediately comes in with the cheap shot! Khallas! He pulls Singh out of the ring and holds him up as he celebrates on the ramp.
Commentary hypes up our men’s four-way and the face-to-face between Nia Jax & Ronda Rousey for later to send us to break.
Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. The B-Team
Axel and Slater to start, Heath with jabs into a side headlock, shot off and he bowls Curtis over! Cut off with a knee, right hand, whip across, Slater with a forearm and he clears Dallas from the apron. Into the corner, double teams isolate him and Bo tags in. Takedown into a cover, no good, repeated knees to the face, clearing Rhyno from the apron, Axel in, duck a reverse roundhouse, Bo gets behind him, and he and Axel hit the back suplex/neckbreaker combo for the victory.
Winner: The B-Team
The Deleters of Worlds are in the dark room applauding. Matt Hardy says this jovial jamboree that these mendacious monkeys are partaking in is WONDERFUL! Bray Wyatt gets real serious and does the “we’re here” gimmick and the tag team champions appear on the stage. Matt congratulates the obsolete mules on trying to prove themselves worthy suitors, but they’re omniscient.
Wyatt tells them they’re surrounded by the woken fireflies and they’re always watching. That’s how he knows their insides are burning like the River Styx, and that’s fear he put in there to remind them they bought the ticket and now they have to take the ride. Hardy says the game is afoot and calls them obnoxious ants that will be eaten and deleted!
We get a recap of the Rollins/Elias feud to date and we go backstage with Elias. He says tonight’s performance will be a struggle for him, he’s not used to performing in front of Arkansas hillbillies.
On that note, we go to break.
Elias-Seth Rollins Segment
Back from commercial, Elias is here to sing us a song.
He plays a few bars before telling everyone to remember this moment right now, because we’re seeing a once-in-a-lifetime performer and also in his final moments without the Intercontinental Championship. At Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins will find out that WWE stands for Walk With Elias. He launches into his usual spiel about being quiet before beginning.
The song is about Rollins having the worst nicknames and being a disgrace to Raw, with a little bit of running down Little Rock, Arkansas mixed in for good measure, of course. He takes the guitar off and says he’s got something to show everyone, and it’s… another guitar, with his name and the Intercontinental Championship painted on it, given to him by John Mayer.
It’s a custom-made Fender acoustic-electric and it’s a thing of beauty. He’s not going to bless us with another performance tonight, but he pledges to hold the guitar when he’s got the title around his waist.
Enter Seth Rollins! He hits the ring fighting but the Drifter manages to get away and heads up the ramp! Seth asks him when he’s gonna stop being such a coward and says he’s not that hard to find. In fact, he’s in the same spot every Monday night, right in the middle of the ring with the title on his shoulder begging for a fight. All he had to do was ask!
And the worst part is he really wants to like him. He could be a hitmaker, he could do it all! With the spotlight, the songs, the guitars… A quizzical look comes over Rollins’ face and he looks over at the custom Fender. He wants a closer look and he picks the guitar up, admiring it verbally and showing it off to the crowd. He’d really hate to see it go to waste and it’d be great to see it up for charity auction right here tonight!
He opens up bidding and Elias tries to put in a bid, at which point Seth says he couldn’t do that seeing as it was a gift and he lays it down in the ring. He doesn’t wanna hurt it, the craftsmanship, it’s so nice! He fakes out a stomp and Elias loses his mind and nearly rushes the ring! Rollins backs off and says he doesn’t play any instruments but he DOES know a little song with three words that happens when he taps his foot.
He asks the crowd for help, they oblige with the Burn It Down chant, off the ropes… BLACKOUT TO THE GUITAR! Seth mockingly picks up the guitar and pretends to play it for a moment.
Backstage With Roode and KO
Bobby Roode is staring in a mirror and preening when Kevin Owens rolls up. He says seeing Seth smash the guitar like that reminds him of Braun snapping the ladder in half next week and Roode is lucky to be standing. Bobby asks what he wants and KO says he wants what’s best for everybody. None of them can bet Braun by themselves, and they need to stop him.
Hence tonight they should all work together, or Roode can go at it alone and end up like the ladder, it’s his call. Kev compliments his robe before leaving.
Bayley makes her entrance for a match against Ruby Riott, who is shown walking backstage with the Riott Squad and a box of Cheetos, wreaking havoc casually. She rolls up on RD Evans and cuts his tie and we go to break.
Bayley vs. Ruby Riott
Circling, Riott in with a kick and grounded forearms to the back of the head before wrenching Bayley’s neck over the bottom rope. Choke in the corner, pieface, boots in the next corner, boots up to block, side headlock takedown into mounted punches! More punches from the Hugger, turning and trading in the corner, big uppercut from Ruby evens the score!
Whip reversed, front kick, Lou Thesz Press and more mounted punches from Bayley into a cover gets two. Lariat in the corner, smashing Riott’s face into the next corner and then a third, the Riott Squad jawing from the floor, hard whip, off the ropes for a bulldog! Perched on the second, diving corkscrew elbow sends Ruby to the floor to regroup.
Headed out after, Riott picks the leg but Bayley’s able to get away and hit a back suplex as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Riott is in control with a top wristlock. Bayley fights to her feet, rolls her away, basement dropkick takes the knee out, pass aside but she gets caught by the pop-up headscissors into the turnbuckle… NOPE! Fujiwara armbar with a knee to the back, wrenching back hard on the hand, adding pressure to her ribs with her free hand and shifting to a chickenwing trapezius claw as the Hugger gets to her feet.
Backing her into the corner, forcing the break, short flapjack into the turnbuckles, charging elbow, tube man elbow and a knee strike knocks Riott down and out. Perching up top, diving elbow… NOBODY HOME! Ruby with a folding press… only a nearfall! O’Connor roll in return, no good, slide under, sunset flip, nope, another folding press, still no! Bayley with a knee strike and Liv Morgan runs interference.
Riott puts the Hugger into the post hard, wristlock and a Riott kick for the victory.
Winner: Ruby Riott
The Riott Squad hold Bayley down and draw on her face and belly with what appears to be black lipstick.
Ronda Rousey is backstage when Natalya rolls up on her to give her some advice. She wants Ronda to be careful and ready for Nia Jax.
Ronda Rousey-RAW Women’s Champ Nia Jax Segment
Commentary informs us their face-to-face is up next and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Jonathan Coachman is in the ring to introduce Ronda Rousey, at which point we get a montage of social media reactions to the announcement that she’s going in the UFC Hall of Fame. Nia Jax is introduced and enters and Coach sets the stage before asking Nia about how their rivalry has gone from friendly to angry. She says she’s not surprised, they’re both very competitive and things have gotten tense.
She admits she’s purposely pressed Rousey’s buttons to see how she’d react, and she then puts her over at length before pointing out she’s new to WWE. She made her success in MMA with very different rules, like legal headbutts and strikes to the spine, hair pulling, 12-6 elbows, and so on. They hurt, injure, and throw people off their gameplan, and come Sunday she’ll show Ronda exactly what she’s talking about.
Rousey says she doesn’t plan and she’ll improvise Jax’s arm off. She says she’s confident but she’s earned that right, and Nia says she’ll give her that, her one match was very impressive, but it was a tag match against a businesswoman who competes part-time, and no offense, but Jax has been here for years grinding and she’s the Raw Women’s Champion. You wanna take her arm, she’ll take your reputation.
When Nia’s done with her, they’ll call HER the baddest woman on the planet, and she knows she’s gonna win, that’s why she made the challenge in the first place, and at the end of the day, Rousey just isn’t ready. Ronda stands up and questions this idea. Everyone told her she wasn’t ready to make the Olympic Team, but she did. Everybody said she wasn’t ready to challenge for the Strikeforce belt, but she won. Same for headlining her own card and being UFC Champion, and now she’s going into the Hall of Fame.
She’s Ronda Rousey, and she was born ready. She takes her jacket off and she and Nia go face to face. Jax throws a forearm and gets caught! She manages to escape with a headbutt and drags Ronda around… ROLLING ARMBAR OUTTA NOWHERE BUT NIA HAS HER HANDS CLASPED! JAX POSTS TO HER FEET BUT RONDA PULLS HER BACK DOWN AND BREAKS HER GRIP! NIA TAPS!
Ronda leaves slapping hands with everybody while Jax clutches her arm and looks on.
Curt Hawkins is standing backstage as No Way Jose and his conga line make their way past and we go to break.
Curt Hawkins vs. No Way Jose
Curt Hawkins is nowhere to be found but referee Dan Engler rings the bell and counts him anyway. A MAN IN BLUE ATTACKS FROM BEHIND WITH A SCHOOLBOY, IT’S CURT HAWKINS! No good, Jose recovers and hits a pop-up forearm strike to pin Hawkins.
Winner: No Way Jose
Finn Balor is walking backstage when he runs into Bobby Roode and asks him if Owens spoke to him, too. Neither of them trust him, but Finn wonders what the smart play is. Roode wants to listen to Kevin but keep one eye on him. Balor says he’ll keep one eye on Owens, and one eye on Roode.
The ring crew set up an obstacle course and we’re told Sami Zayn is having it set up for Bobby Lashley.
A video profile on Special Olympics powerlifter Katie Millar follows and we go to break.
Sami Zayn-Bobby Lashley Obstacle Course Segment
Back from commercial and the obstacle course is set up.
Renee Young interviews Sami Zayn on the stage. He says last week all he did was ask a simple question if Bobby Lashley was ever in the army and he got bombarded with people sending pictures and records but he can’t verify any of those claims! The only way Lashley can prove it is by doing this obstacle course faster than he can.
Sami walks us through the course, first the tire flip, then the low crawls and he thinks that’s where Bobby starts to fail on account of his 265 pounds of muscle compared to Zayn’s 213 pounds of catlike agility, meow. Then the three sisters wall jump and the monkey bars, or what soldiers like to call the horizontal ladder. You’d think Lashley’s upper body strength would carry him, but Sami thinks he’ll be out of energy.
If by some miracle he makes it to the grand finale, he’s got the dreaded rope climb, which anyone who’s ever had high school gym class knows, it’s very hard to climb the rope. Green Berets can do it in about two minutes, but imagine how fast Sami can do it with everyone cheering him on! And when he wins, he’ll dedicate his victory to the country with the greatest military force on earth, Canada.
Enter Bobby Lashley. He says everybody’s tired of hearing Zayn’s mouth, and he’s gonna beat him here and then beat his butt this weekend. Sami joins them on the stage for the coin flip, demanding Bobby keep his distance. Bobby ends up going first.
Lashley clears the tire with no issue, right through the crawl, the three sisters, the monkey bars, just powering through them and stopping to do a pull-up even. Onto the rope climb… and he rings the bell and lands at 47 seconds… WHEREUPON SAMI BLINDSIDES HIM FOR THE CHEAP SHOT AND PUTS HIM INTO THE FRAME OF THE ROPE CLIMB! HELLUVA KICK!
Backstage with RAW Men’s MITB Ladder Match Competitors
Backstage, Kevin Owens is having a strategy meeting, assigning Finn and Bobby to Braun’s arms and legs. Balor points out they haven’t agreed to anything and KO is apoplectic when Strowman rolls up with a great idea. He wants them to team up on him and laughs before roaring and leaving.
On that note, we go to break.
Bobby Roode vs. Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor vs. Braun Strowman
Kevin Owens hangs back and Balor and Roode pass Strowman into him but the monster among men fends all three off with ease! Huge biel on Bobby, clubbing blow for Finn, KO off the ropes and he bails to the floor as we go to break.
Back from commercial, all three non-monster men surround Braun and attack him, trying to overwhelm him against the ropes. Strowman fights back but is staggered and starts to fade as they continue hammering him. Shoulder thrusts from Owens, charging lariat and Braun comes back with shoves and a side slam for Balor! Kev from behind, Strowman doesn’t stop beating Roode before turning around.
KO bails and begs off but Braun follows out after him… only to eat a dropkick from Finn! Roode and Owens join in, clubbing him down again but he throws them off mightily! Strowman and KO run off to the back but moments later Braun throws Owens out on the stage. Drawing him up, headbutt, right hand takes Roode out and he throws KO into the LED board!
Strowman starts knocking ladders over and clears the announce table of debris before scooping Owens up. Roode gets a ladder and rams the monster with it! Finn joins in and they knock him over to the announce table, keeping him off-balance with strikes. KO drags a ladder over and climbs it, asking the other two to stabilize it. Perched up top…FROG SPLASH THROUGH THE TABLE! WE’RE GOING TO BREAK!
Back from commercial, Roode has a Fujiwara armbar on Balor in the ring as Strowman and Owens writhe in pain at the announce position. Wristlock into a kneeling armbar, grinding the ridge on the bone of his forearm into Finn’s elbow before kneeling on it and wrenching back. Balor posts to his feet, forearm strike, arm wrench, off the ropes, elbow and a Pele kick and both men are down and out!
Finn sidesteps a charge, off the ropes, elbow, double leg into the double stomp and he’s fired up! Whip across, boot up, enzuigiri connects and Bobby crashes to the floor! Balor rises, off the ropes, and he’s cut off with a forearm from the apron. Diving blockbuster gets Roode a nearfall, Finn with a small package, no good, Sling Blade connects! Shotgun dropkick, he heads up top but Owens is up and at ‘em and cuts him off!
Up top himself, Balor knocks him down with a forearm and perches but Bobby’s able to crotch him. Roode climbs to join him, thinking superplex, KO underneath… TOWER OF DOOM! STROWMAN’S ALIVE! KEVIN OWENS KNOWS FEAR! Braun hobbles down the ramp and wipes Finn and Bobby out when they run up to him! Back inside, Owens has nowhere to go… except to the floor and out into the crowd, where Strowman follows after and drags him back to the ring in a bulldog headlock!
Clubbing blow sets him down on the floor, Braun eyes Balor… POUNCE! ONE FOR ROODE AS WELL! AND ONE FOR OWENS! Hoisting KO up, Roode makes the save and Strowman Stinger splashes both of them in the corner! Finn with the enzuigiri, the Coup de Grace to the back of the head, charging over… POUNCE! Balor up on his shoulder, Owens with the superkick! A basement superkick!
He signals Roode and scoops him up to try and steal a pin! Spinning spinebuster! Inverted headlock elbow drop! Every man for himself! Sling Blade on Braun! Shotgun dropkick! Perching up top, Coup de Grace… ROODE BREAKS IT UP! He puts Finn back-first into the post and calls for it, Glorious DDT! Owens dumps the Glorious One and heads up top, frog splash… BRAUN STROWMAN IS INEXORABLE!
KO goes and gets a short ladder and brings it into the ring, clubbing Braun with it but Strowman remains standing even after a second shot! He catches the third! Goozle, stepping over the ladder… CHOKESLAM! Up on his shoulders… RUNNING POWERSLAM ON THE LADDER! IT’S OVER!
Winner: Braun Strowman with Running Powerslam on KO
