We all know that Shashi Tharoor is a magician when it comes to words. A lot of his sentences can serve as a lesson in English language for mere mortals like us. The Congress MP who woos Twitter every now and then, has got everyone smitten with his wit and knowledge.
But who thought that he too will fall prey to faux-pas?
It just so happened that one of the most influential Indian politicians in the country found himself engulfed in the perils of social media. On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, Tharoor took it to Twitter to wish everyone a ‘Happy Mahavir Jayanti’, unfortunately, with a picture of Lord Buddha.
Within seconds, Twitterati began pointing out the mistake and informed Mr Tharoor about the blunder.

But as we all know, Tharoor isn’t one to hide from a storm. He quickly tweeted back, accepting his mistake and corrected it.
“At least, thanks to my apparent error, a lot more people are tweeting on Mahavira than they would otherwise have!”
There is no reason in the world for us to not believe you, Mr Tharoor.
