Bully Ray Praises Ronda Rousey’s WWE Raw Promo on Sasha Banks

Bully Ray recently commented on Ronda Rousey’s Monday Night Raw promo from January 21. Rousey addressed her current rivalry with Sasha Banks in a promo that left many fans more than a little confused. Bully talked about that promo on Busted Open, where he praised Rousey for her believability.

“When you’re speaking from the heart and when you’re speaking passionately, yeah, sometimes you flub your words. People are not perfect. Have we gotten so used to these tanned, perfect promos, with the same cadence and the same tone and the same delivery that when we get something that sounds like this, we don’t know what to think because it sounds wrong? There was so much emotion involved in the promo. You have all these people who are bi*****g and moaning about the promo, they want scripted, they don’t want scripted, they want this, they don’t want that. Some of these wrestling fans don’t know what they want.”

Bully definitely has a point and it could be that exact perspective that WWE fans have been missing. From the moment that Rousey walked into Vince McMahon’s company, her every move has been scrutinized.

This is especially true of her promos, which are always the focus for fans. It’s no secret that Ronda hasn’t always been strong on the mic and it has appeared that she’s gotten somewhat lost in her words before. That was also the case during the promo in question, as Rousey did seem to babble on and lose herself along the way.

But perhaps this is indeed a good thing, if for no other reason than because it’s real. Ronda doesn’t come across as a typical WWE Superstar and that’s surely been a positive for her thus far.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks at WWE’s Royal Rumble event on Sunday, January 27.
