A Retired Government Employee Took A Flight For The First Time In His Life And The Reason Will Leave You In Tears

It’s a fact that the love our parents have for us is unconditional and unchanging. They say that a love between a man and a woman may change with time, but that between a man and his daughter never changes. Nah, we think it does. It grows; it grows from the moment he holds his daughter in his arms for the first time. With every step he takes, with every breath, the love just keeps growing. While teaching her how to ride a bike, play an instrument or even remember the periodic table, fathers teach their daughters to be strong, independent and fearless. More importantly, they teach their daughters to live their dreams.

This short film by Zee TV introduces us to one such father, Mr Ravindra Nath Sharma, a retired government official, for whom his daughter means the world. Just for her, he can go beyond and above to see that smile on her face. How else would you explain a man so afraid of flying stepping onto a plane? Whenever he had to travel, wherever he had to travel, he would always prefer the train. But when his daughter, Shalini, decided to become a pilot, he stood by her. Even when the society suggested her otherwise, he didn’t let his daughter’s dream succumb to the societal plague of ‘log kya kahenge’. On the contrary, he let her fly high and overcame his fear just to be there with her as they both took off for the first time. While Shalini conquered the naysayers, Ravindra Nath conquered his fear. All it took him was to watch his daughter, his pride, achieve the biggest milestone of her life.

Through this short film ‘Aaj Likhenge Kal’, Zee TV aims to resolve the socio-cultural tension that is deeply rooted in the Indian middle class. Talking about their life struggles and the uncertainties that engulf them, Zee TV has always championed the cause of the Indian middle class and this short film is an extension of just that! It aims at providing them with a spark to believe, overcome barriers and write their own stories of a brighter future. Intriguing, isn’t it? Watch their short film and help spread the message!
