BALTIMORE, MD — The house where Meg Ryan’s character lived in the movie “Sleepless In Seattle” is for sale. In real life, the building in Fells Point has been used as a commercial property.
Located on South Broadway near the pier, the three-story building is described as a 1,995-square-foot office space with rooftop deck. Built in 1812, the property was once used as a steamship ticket office, according to the listing.
In the movie, which came out in 1993, Ryan’s character lives in Baltimore and falls in love with a widower who lives in Seattle, played by Tom Hanks, after hearing him tell his story on a radio show.
The Fells Point property was only used for exterior shots in the film, The Baltimore Sun reported.
In the years since, it has been used for business purposes. CAPTEL, a telephone fundraising firm, had one of its offices there. The company, which focuses on soliciting political contributions, is moving out in an effort to consolidate operations at its D.C. and Wyoming offices, WBAL reports, and the property could be converted for residential use with permission from the city.
