For 5 Months, 19-YO Posed As A Doctor At AIIMS To Help Expedite Sister’s Cancer Treatment

A 19-year-old boy has been accused and taken into custody for posing as a doctor at AIIMS for 5 months. The accused, Adnan Khurram from Bihar, somehow managed to find his way inside AIIMS, mingled with doctors and participated in the all the events that were meant for AIIMS doctors.

He even carried a notebook, similar to what was allotted to all the doctors at AIIMS to walk past security. 

He did so to expedite his sister’s treatment and helped many of his relatives avail free treatment at AIIMS. His sister is a blood cancer patient and with his help, she was able to have better access to facilities at the hospital.

Upon his arrest on the last Saturday, Adnan revealed that he was just trying to help his sister access facilities at AIIMS. 

Adnan was caught by some doctors at the marathon, the ones who grew suspicious about his presence at the hospital. When they confronted Adnan with questions, he could not answer them, and that’s how they caught him. 

He has now been charged under 419 and 468 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and has been sent to Tihar Jail.

It is alarming that someone was able to pull off something like that for 5 months before anyone took notice. On looking a little deeper, his desperation to help his sick sister also does tug at one’s heartstrings. However, his impersonation could have easily cost someone their life. We’re glad it did not.
