Over the past weekend, signs at the store, at 811 Clinton St., said the Health Department had suspended their license to sell food and beverages.

“Our Clinton Street store temporarily stopped selling food items last week due to a pest control issue,” explained Amy Thibault of CVS on Monday. “We worked closely with pest control and the Department of Health to rectify the issue and passed an inspection earlier today. We expect to resume selling food items immediately.”

She added, “We’re committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our customers, patient and colleagues and will continue to work with pest control to ensure the store remains free of pests. ”

Hoboken public safety spokesperson Marci Rubin said, “The Hoboken Division of Health suspended the food and beverage license of CVS Store #2209, 811 Clinton St., last week, for violating multiple codes regarding rodent infestations and adulterated food. The order, which followed inspections on July 8 and 9, required the store to remove all food and beverage items from shelving until further notice.”

She added, “Hoboken Health Inspector Brian Gutierrez re-inspected the store this morning, found that the violations had been addressed, and lifted the order.”

She did not respond, when asked how the food was “adulterated.”

The CVS is one of three in town, and is located across from Hoboken High School.
