HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Horsham Township Councilwoman Theresa Harmon has tendered her resignation with her replacement expected to be appointed at Monday night’s council meeting.
“It makes me very sad that we have to consider the resignation of Township Councilwoman Theresa Harmon because she is moving,” Council President William Whiteside said at the Aug. 14 meeting.

“It definitely is not an easy decision,” Harmon said. “This has been quite an honor to serve Horsham. What this township is is years of planning. I’ve learned so much. I’m so impressed and proud and I hope that’s always the case with Horsham. Ten, or 20 years from now, I don’t want it to change at all. I will miss all of you. Thank you for a great almost three years.”

Her resignation due to her relocation was accepted unanimously by the council.
Township Manager Bill Walker said Harmon will be back to be honored with a proclamation for her service at a future date.
He touted her time on the Hatboro-Horsham School Board before she joined the council. He said Harmon was also involved with her three sons in activities in the township for 24 years.
Harmon thanked her council colleagues and past members like former Council President Mark McCouch. She also thanked Township Engineer Eric Garton, Solicitor Mary Eberle, Director of Administration Dennis Haggerty Jr., and Larry Burns, the township’s director of community and economic development.
“It’s the only community our kids have ever known,” Harmon said. “I just love Horsham.”
