Husband Mutilated His Wife’s Genitalia Because She Refused To Give Up Her Gold Earrings

The barbaric act of chopping off someone genitals in the name of religion, tradition or simply as a matter of revenge is an act that should call for severe punishment. Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FMG/C) – also known as Khafd or Khatna is a fecund practice in certain Muslim communities.

We earlier reported that there are no laws to ban the custom, adding more to the despondency. A study titled ‘The Clitoral Hood A Contested Site’, was released on February 5 before International Day for Zero Tolerance for FGM, and reported that 75 percent of women in Bohra community subjected their daughters to the practice.

But this time, the mutation did not happen in the name of tradition, but because of a fight. In a rather horrific incident, a man in Pakistan’s tribal area, Dera Ghazi Khan, mutilated his wife’s genitalia over a fight.

The fight happened because the wife refused to give back her gold earrings.

An FIR was by the woman’s family and he was arrested immediately, but there is no way that his actions can be reverted. 

The man locked the wife in a room and began beating her – her cries and howls clearly audible to those outside the house. Among all those who heard it, were the woman’s father and uncle too. They immediately rushed to the house and broke the door.

When they went inside, they found the woman bleeding profusely. 

Police reported that the couple used to fight a lot and the husband has a history of beating his wife in the rage. The main reason for his rage was that they weren’t able to conceive a child. 

It’s barbaric and inhuman to levels that cannot be explained in words. Such people should be severely punished and practices like these need to be banned.
