Its a different feeling for him to wake up second week of the Australian Open and to not be a part of it, Hewitt recognized. Hes the two-time defending champion and its only the second time he hasnt made it to the semi-finals in so many years now.
Hed be pretty disappointed. Hewitt believes Federer will play in the 2020 season as well, trying to achieve the highest success again: Id love to see him push towards another Australian Open title next year.
My gut feel tells me he will be. At the end of the day, how we plans his schedule now is around the majors. But I for one hope we see Roger Federer back here again in the future, hes been one of the greatest ambassadors for the sport that we could ask for.
Hewitt finally spoke about the younger players potential, showing to be optimistic: The next generation is coming its only a matter of time. People do want to see different names. Its fantastic to see these fresh faces out there and Tsitsipas is going to be a name for the future not only at the grand slams but on the ATP Tour.
