'I Think This Is Right': LI Owner Displays Israeli Hostage Posters

HUNTINGTON, NY — Despite dozens of hostages being released from Hamas terrorists, The Golden Globe Diner in Huntington is showing unity with Israel and those still held captive. Owner Peter Tsadilas sat down with the Patch Weekly Spotlight to tell why he’s wallpapered the restaurant’s window with posters of the kidnapped.

“They will remain covered until there’s a resolution,” Tsadilas told Patch.

While he has received overwhelming support from the community, Jewish and other religious faiths, not everyone has embraced Tsadilas’ effort.

“People walked in telling me it’s depressing,” he said.

The diner owner has also placed Israeli flags outside of his establishment, which also came under some backlash, including a request to replace one with a Palestinian flag.

“I don’t want anything bad for Palestinian people; I just want these hostages to be released,” Tsadilas said.

So Tsadilas, who is not Jewish, feels a kinship with the Jewish community and uses his window space to “give them a little visibility, when they don’t have any on Long Island.”

There have been incidents seen on social media where people have ripped down posters in New York City and in other locations. But Tsadilas eliminated that concern by taping the posters from inside the diner.

“My parents brought me to America for Freedom of Speech and to be able to do what I think is right,” he said. “I think this is right.”
