‘No Bill-No Fee’, Indian Railways To Follow The Policy To Ensure No One Is Overcharged In Trains

Many endure a doting fondness for the Indian Railways, mainly because we have grown up travelling in it – it’s like one of those quintessential experience that one just needs to have.

Unfortunately, even the largest utility employer on earth – with roughly 1.5 million workers – the Indian Railways also has hoops to jump through. Over the years, many have complained about the poor quality of food, untidiness, lack of proper facilities, but most of all, people have complained about being overcharged.

In a bid to put an end to everyone’s misery, the Indian Railways has decided to bring a new rule to the table – ‘no food bill, no payment’. 

Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal took it to his Twitter account to make the announcement. The minister said that all the passengers who are not given a food bill can take it away for free. The policy will be put in place by March 31.

  • The Indian Railway’s Catering Service, IRCTC has started informing all the passengers about this new policy through ticket booking and at the station. They have also hired special inspectors to check whether or not the processes are being followed.

    According to reports, IRCTC has also begun deploying inspectors to check that bills are being issued to passengers even if they buy a cup of tea on board. 

    Time and again, people have complained about the poor quality of food and being overcharged for the services availed. Hopefully, this will put an end to all of that.
