.
I had some wonderful memories in this arena so it is great to be back, playing healthy and feeling good on the court. Playing Krueger for the first time, I didnt know really what to expect, I tried to do my homework and research on him but it is quite different to actually play against him.
It was a very competitive match, I really had to work hard, we were both pumped, with lots of emotions on the court. I really enjoyed the match, hope you guys did too. The past 12 months were turbulent, a lot of ups and downs in terms of tennis.
I had that major elbow injury that I was carrying for over two years. I think at the early stages I didnt address it in the right way and unfortunately, it has gotten worse and I had to get on a surgery table last February, right after the Australian Open.
It took me several months to recover and regain the confidence and I guess comfort level on the court, with last six months that have been terrific. Im very grateful to experience this kind of journey. Winning Wimbledon was an amazing way to make my comeback, I loved playing on the grass during the entire career and I had plenty of success there in the past.
. I think the reaction of the crowd says it all.
If anyone has some smart advice to give me, Ill be in the locker room come and talk to my coach. I have tremendous respect for Jo. We played here in our first Grand Slam final in 2008, and we are going to face each other again, hopefully on this court and Im really looking forward to it.
