Novak Djokovic reveals big concern about ATP player's council

In a press conference at the Australian Open commented on the delicate situation involving the ATP Chief Executive who could possibly leave the Tour. Carlos Moya shared an interesting opinion on Thursday, backing Kermode to stay.

Djokovic, who is the players council president, said: First of all, exactly to your point, I dont know why people keep on talking about me as being against Chris. Who said that that was the truth? One of my greatest concerns right now, of every council member, is that we have to leak information from someone within the council in the last couple of months.

Many of those things that have been leaked to certain media are also not 100 per cent true. Its obvious that there is a certain kind of one-dimensional agenda in place. Players and certain media are served with quite a one-sided story.

We all have to understand the complexity and how sophisticated the body of ATP is. Our job as council members is to liaise with as many possible players as we can. As I was mentioning before, the process of renewal of Chris contract doesnt depend only on the players, it also determines on the tournament board representatives.

Its going to be voted on the board by both tournaments and players. From our side, were going to do everything we can to speak to as many players as we possibly can during the Grand Slam, which is tough specifically for me and also the other players, but during the next couple months.

We have time. Where is the rush? I dont understand why there is a certain kind of agenda or propaganda in the media against me or the council members. Marin Cilic believes that going far at this years Australian Open is possible for him.

The Croatian player went through a close third round match defeating Fernando Verdasco in five sets on Friday. Recalling his great 2018 run when he lost to Roger Federer in a five-set final, Cilic said: It definitely gives me great vision coming into this year again.

I know Ive done well (at the Australian Open before). I had a great season last year. First time playing three times quarter-finals or better in Grand Slams, so that is a great achievement as well. Im looking again to play great and start a good season.
