Princess Diana’s famous Virgin Atlantic sweatshirt has sold for charity for $53,500.
The pullover, which the late British royal had given to her personal trainer, Jenni Rivett, was bought by an anonymous bidder from California.

Proceeds will help a family in Malawi send their daughter to school — with plenty to spare.
“I am totally gobsmacked that it sold for so much,” Rivett tells The Post of the July 10 sale. “The money will help this family and many others.”
Last week The Post reported how Princess Diana’s beloved workout wear was originally a gift from Virgin Atlantic billionaire Richard Branson.
The mother of princes William and Harry always wore it to sessions with Rivett at the tony Harbour Club gym in London’s Chelsea. It was a ploy to deny photographers the pictures they wanted.
“[Princess Diana] was tired of the media speculating about her clothes when there were important things happening in the world,” Rivett said. “She would purposefully wear the same outfit as a result.”
The go-to sweatshirt, emblazoned with Virgin Atlantic’s Varga Girl logo, had a pre-auction estimate by Boston-based RR Auction of $7,500. It sold for seven times that amount.
