QUEENS, NY — A Queens doctor accused of filming himself raping and sexually abusing women, including his patients, faces fresh charges after a new accuser came forward, prosecutors said.

Zhi Alan Cheng, 34, appeared in Queens court Thursday for arraignment on sexual abuse charges, authorities said.
They stem from a former patient of Cheng’s — a then-48-year-old woman — who recently came forward and said she awoke from a gastrointestinal procedure in 2021 to find him sexually abusing her, prosecutors said.

Cheng now faces more than 60 charges related to accusations from eight women, and prosecutors said there could be more victims.
“What we have heard from the victims and seen in the videos is the shocking and horrifying exploitation of women at their most vulnerable,” said Melinda Katz, district attorney for Queens, in a statement.

“Taken together, the evidence details the repeated
attacks of a sexual predator who time and again betrayed his sworn professional oath and the trust of women who were unable to defend themselves.”
Cheng has been held in jail without bail since 2022, when he was arrested on rape charges.
A grand jury in 2023 then leveled three counts of rape and 10 counts of predatory against Cheng after prosecutors said they found evidence he filmed himself sexually abusing drugged and unconscious patients in New York-Presbyterian Queens hospital and inside his Astoria apartment.

Cheng faces several 25 years-to-life sentences, if convicted.
