'Roger Federer gets stuck playing too defensive' – Mats Wilander

The seven-time Grand Slam winner enjoyed watching the straight-set win over Dan Evans at the Australian Open. Speaking on Eurosport, the former world No. 1 said: There were two styles of tennis you do not see that much.

We have got Roger Federer and obviously, you see the slice backhand, going to the net. Dan Evans plays similar to Roger Federer in terms of serve, volleys, movement. There is a lot of slicing backhands. Its a throwback to the past when tennis was based on feelings and tactics and it was very interesting to see Roger Federer solving that problem.

Wilander also made an interesting tactical analysis: He sometimes gets stuck playing too defensive until he gets the lead. He said, When I was playing against Nadal in the past, it was easy for you guys to say that I had to play more aggressive and if I did I would get broken in the first game of the first set

He needs to find his rhythm. Wilander believes Angelique Kerber has high chances to win her fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. The German did not drop off any set in her first two matches in Melbourne, and speaking on Eurosport Wilander said: She did unbelievably hard work, she looks very fit and she is gonna be hard to beat.
