Sen. Kamala Harris Is Latest Democrat Mailed Pipe Bomb

SACRAMENTO, CA – The FBI and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a crude pipe bomb addressed to Senator Kamala Harris in Sacramento, Calif. Friday morning, according to CNN. The package sent to the democratic senator is one of many explosive devices sent to democrats, journalists and other prominent figures this week.

“We are investigating reports of a suspicious package in South Sacramento,” sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Shaun Hampton told the Sacramento Bee. “It resembles the ones that have been reported throughout the country.”

Authorities were called to the Colonial post office in south Sacramento at 7:44 a.m. Friday after a postal worker spotted a package that looked like others part of a nationwide investigation, the newspaper reported. Hampton said it was one of two bomb scares investigated in Sacramento Friday morning, according to the Sacramento Bee. The other was a false alarm.

Earlier Friday morning, authorities arrested a man in connection with the suspected explosive packages at an auto parts store in Plantation, Florida, according to the Justice Department. News footage from the scene showed what appeared to be a van covered in blue tarp. The van was covered with “pro-Trump bumper stickers,” NBC reported.

The arrest comes after two more explosive devices were found Friday – one sent to Senator Cory Booker, a New Jersey Democrat, and another sent to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the New York Times reported. Other intended recipients of suspected explosive devices include: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Bideon, billionaire George Soros and others.
