MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — Views of Vineyard Haven Harbor and food influenced by the street vendors of Mexico City can now be found at the same Martha’s Vineyard restaurant.

Patrick Lyons is a Boston restaurateur and also a Vineyard resident. Lyons latest spot is the taqueria El Barco, which opened doors for the first time earlier this month.

Located just steps off the Vineyard Haven ferry, El Barco features various authentic Mexican dishes including quesabirria tacos, burritos, elote and handcrafted margaritas, all served in “a festive atmosphere that captures the essence of Mexican culinary traditions,” officials said.

In addition to the food, El Barco also offers a covered outdoor bar and dining space overlooking the ferry and the harbor.

As an effort to support the island, the restaurant will donate $1 to the Island Grown Initiative for every fish taco purchased.

“This contribution aids in increasing local food production, reducing food waste, promoting climate-friendly farming techniques, and expanding access to healthy, affordable food across the Martha’s Vineyard community,” officials said.

El Barco is located at 16 Union St., in Vineyard Haven and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
