Trump accidentally tags wrong woman in Rapinoe Twitter feud

President Trump’s feud with US women’s soccer team co-captain Megan Rapinoe featured a social-media gaffe Wednesday, when he accidentally tagged a similarly named woman in a tweet — sending her anonymous account viral.

“Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is ‘not going to the F…ing White House if we win,’” Trump wrote in a series of messages, amid his pitched battle with Rapinoe for refusing to sing along with the national anthem at the ongoing World Cup. “Megan should WIN first before she TALKS!”

The only problem was that Trump first sent an identical tweet tagging “@meganrapino,” a relative unknown who woke up Wednesday with less than 1,000 followers — and she took the opportunity to dive into the spat.

“and she was right to say so cry me a river,” responded Rapino to Trump’s since-deleted tweet, backing Rapinoe. “plus this isn’t even her acc.”

The clapback racked up thousands of likes in less than an hour — and Rapino wasn’t done.

“tr*mp is really gonna get me to 1k followers,” the user wrote in another tweet, a milestone she also quickly blew past.

“SAVE ME,” Rapino wrote in another tweet, tagging the similarly named soccer star.

“lowkey trying to get the real @mPinoe to notice me,” she cracked in another message.
