Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil has undergone a successful surgical microdisectomy. The 28-year-old hasnt played since the Paris Masters qualifying due to a back injury. Back then, the Canadian retired his Paris qualifying final round match to French Benoit Paire after losing the opening set.
Pospisil, ranked at No. 74 in the world, delayed the opening of his 2019 campaign. Unfortunately for the Canadian, his injury required a surgical procedure as he underwent one on January 18. Its been a really difficult few months for me but Im so fortunate to have had such a great team of doctors around me that made sure I had the very best care, Pospisil said, per Tennis Canada Twitter.
Ill work hard to get healthy, but I know I need to be patient in my recovery. Im grateful for Dr. Kolar, Dr. Theorodopoulos, and Dr. Cammisa and all those working at the various hospitals for their professionalism and top notch care during this difficult time.
Pospisil withdrew from the upcoming ATP 250 event in Montpellier — which is due to kick off on February 04.
