Serbian tennis star Viktor Troicki is happy to be healthy again and able to play the game he loves without feeling any pain. The 32-year-old had a disappointing and challenging 2018 campaign as it was one of his worst seasons on the tour.
The Serb, a former world No. 12, has dropped to No. 200 in the world. However, a now-healthy-Troicki is hoping to rediscover his old form and once again be the player he once was. For the first time since 2008, Troicki had to play the Australian Open qualifying.
The Serb won three qualifying matches this past week to make his 11th main draw appearance at Melbourne Park. Troickis fine form at Melbourne Park continued on Monday when he beat Spains Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1 1-6 2-6 6-1 6-4 to reach the Australian Open second round.
Im just happy I can play tennis without pain. Its been tough for the last 6 months. I had a lot of issues with my back last year and wasnt even sure if I was going to be able to come back, Troicki said post-match, per Tennisform Twitter.
Three-time ATP champion Troicki wont have an easy job on Wednesday as he is due to clash next against No. 14 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. Also read: Fabio Fognini on Andy Murray: Its incredible what youve done for tennis
