KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Two women attempted to steal more than 4700 in groceries from Wegmans in King of Prussia, police announced Monday.
The incident occurred on Jan. 7 at around 6:15 p.m. at the store on 1 Village Drive.
The women loaded a cart with various items and then attempted to leave without paying, police said.

An Upper Merion police officer was nearby and stopped the women before they left the parking lot. They were arrested without incident.
A total of $777 in merchandise was stolen, authorities said.

A man who was driving the women also had an active criminal arrest warrant for aggravated assault in Philadelphia.
The three were taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Both women were charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.
Preliminary hearings are forthcoming.
