387 Apartments Targeted For Corner Of Murrieta Hot Springs, Jefferson

MURRIETA, CA — A new apartment complex is planned for the corner of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Jefferson Avenue in Murrieta, and the community has an opportunity to voice any concerns.

The project, slated for 18 acres at the intersection’s southeast corner, proposes 387 apartments in 15 three-story buildings. The apartment units would range in size from 700 square feet for a one-bedroom to 1,414 square feet for a three-bedroom. Possible lease fees were unavailable.

Approximately 13 acres of the 18 would be developed, with a 5-acre area containing grasslands and drainage to be avoided, according to city documents.

Access to the complex would be from one driveway on Jefferson Avenue and one on Murrieta Hot Springs Road. The Jefferson driveway would be accessed through a new right-turn lane. An exit-only would also be constructed along Jefferson, south of the main driveway, according to environmental documents.

The documents show that the complex would have 788 parking spaces — a combination of garages, covered carports, and surface parking.

A public hearing on the project is scheduled during a 6 p.m. March 27 Murrieta Planning Commission meeting. The commission will review the development plan permit and environmental findings for the project.

The meeting takes place at City Hall, 1 Town Square. The public is encouraged to attend. For those who can’t make the meeting but would like to submit comments, email the city clerk at cmmcdonald@MurrietaCa.gov and flag the correspondence for the planning commission.

“If you challenge the city’s action on this project in court you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing …, or in written correspondence delivered to the Planning Commission at, or prior to the public hearing,” a city statement read.
