Rishabh Pant Possibly Out For 6 Months, World Cup In 9 Months – A Race Against Time

Rishabh Pant’s world turned upside down on December 30 when he was involved in a car accident. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter suffered injuries on his head, back and limbs before locals pulled him out of the wreckage. The car was completely damaged.

Pant has been airlifted to Mumbai for surgery and will be treated for a tear in the ligament. That means he is going to be out of action for some time. But the timing could not have been worse.

The ODI World Cup is in October, just 9 months away. Pant, on the other hand, is expected to be out for six months. That really narrows his window to be fit in time for the competition.

But his priority will be to get back on his feet and become match fit. In a year when every performance matters, Pant finds himself sidelined due to injury.

It is going to be a race against time for Pant. The worry that he may rush things is also there. The BCCI is monitoring him closely as the nation prays for his well-being.

Of course, fans are grateful it did not end in tragedy. Pant is lucky to be alive and his teammates will be hoping he joins them on the field very soon.
