WWE SmackDown viewership, 18-49 demo down against NCAA tournament

Up against stiff competition, last Friday's WWE SmackDown averaged 2.258 million viewers on Fox — their lowest audience for the show since January 20th and the second-lowest to date in 2023.

The number was down 2.7% from the previous week.

The show finished fourth for the night among network TV shows with a 0.59 rating in the 18-49 demo — down 6.3% from the previous week but essentially the same as what the show has done three of the last five weeks.

Coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament dominated both the network and cable charts with two live games and the pre-show for the second game finishing above SmackDown on the network charts. The three games that went head-to-head with SmackDown combined to average almost ten million viewers between CBS, TNT and TBS.

As compared to the same week in 2022 when the show also went up against the NCAA tournament, SmackDown was up 5.2% in overall viewers and 1.7% in 18-49.

The following are the last eleven weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 demo ratings for WWE SmackDown on Fox as well as the ten-week average in both categories. This week's show was down 5.1% in overall viewers and 1.7% in 18-49 as compared to recent averages.
