3 Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash On William Floyd Parkway: Police

YAPHANK, NY — Three people were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash with one SUV overturning, on William Floyd Parkway in Yaphank on Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 72-year-old man driving a 2007 Ford Edge suffered an apparent medical event and crashed into a Toyota Prius at around 9:17 a.m., on the south side of the parkway, near the Long Island Expressway, according to police.

The Edge then struck a 2005 Ford Explorer, causing the vehicle to overturn, and the 51-year-old man driving it and a female passenger, of unknown age, were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 70-year-old woman, was not injured, according to police.

The Edge’s driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of the medical event, police said.

It’s not clear how long the road was shut, but the crash did snarl traffic while police were on the scene.
