SOUTH JERSEY — Four bridges connecting South Jersey and the Philadelphia area will receive license plate readers to help crime-fighting efforts.
In January, the Delaware River Port Authority Board moved to enter a 10-year agreement with the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, the Division of the New Jersey State Police, for the installation of automated license plate readers to be installed on the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry, and Betsy Ross bridges.

The technology will aid in counterterrorism efforts, amber alerts, missing persons cases and other crime-detection and prevention efforts, Port Authority officials told Patch.
